I like to believe that where MTI goes, others follow. Last night that was certainly the case as I was extended an exclusive invitation from our friends at EMC. The Lotus F1 Team Launch Party was held to celebrate their partnership with EMC and kick-off what promises to be an exciting 2014 season.
The invite explained: “2014 is a milestone in F1 history as the industry embraces some of the most complex technical changes to date. Lotus F1 Team IT Director, Michael Taylor, will outline these and bring alive EMC’s role in enabling the team to overcome these challenges and continue to compete as a World Championship challenger.”
Tony Conway, Rob Buckton and myself attended, with Rob leading the field and winning the competition for the fastest reaction. This was established through a test that involved hitting lights on a panel that switched on and off. All good fun and out of what must have been 150 guests it was very satisfying to see one of my colleagues collect the prize from BBC F1 Correspondent Suzi Perry.
Another highlight for me was the presentation given by former Lotus F1 team driver, Johnny Herbert. Johnny, who is now Sky Sports F1 presenter, explained the importance of instinct when travelling at speed. A poignant lesson that resonated with myself and no doubt the other partners and customers who were in attendance.
It was great to be able to let our hair down with John Singh and Tim Sewart from our legal firm DAC Beachcroft and delightful to be able to spend time with Charlotte Armitage, from the Marketing team at EMC. We also got to chat with Kenny Logan whose company is responsible for managing the branding of EMC with the Lotus F1 team.
Thanks EMC and good luck team Lotus!
